Bangalore: In a heartbreaking incident, a young couple from Dhenkanal was discovered dead in an apparent suicide at Kalbalu village, located within the Jigani police jurisdiction in Bangalore. The individuals have been identified as Seema Nayak, aged 25, and Rakesh Patra, aged 23. Both were employed as housekeeping staff at a local firm in the industrial sector.
The couple's landlord grew concerned when their rented home remained locked since the previous Sunday and subsequently alerted the authorities. Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene, forced entry into the residence, and found the couple hanging.
Initial investigations suggest that Patra may have hanged himself first, with Nayak following suit after using a knife to sever the rope. It appears that the two were cohabiting without being married.
Neighbors reported that Patra struggled with alcoholism, and the couple had a dispute on Sunday, the details of which remain unclear. Authorities stated, "We will gather more information once we reach out to their relatives in Odisha."
